Yesterday I began my annual list of the top ten songs from last year.  (If you missed it, click here to see it!)  But now it's time to finish the list!  So without further ado, here is what I feel were the FIVE BEST songs from 2014.  The only requirement to be considered is that the song was played on KISS-FM in regular rotation.

#5: DJ SNAKE FEAT. LIL JON - TURN DOWN FOR WHAT: This song never stops being turnt up  (for lack of a better of a better term).  I'm not a coffee-drinker, but this song is the audio-equivalent of a double-shot of espresso!  It's goofy and doesn't take itself too seriously, but the production on the song is 100% serious.  An undeniable club-banger that you'll be hearing for many years.

...And that music video.

#4: EMINEM FEAT. RIHANNA - THE MONSTER: Though this song feels ancient now, and also technically a late-2013 song, this song was still too new for consideration on last year's list.  Either way, it seems like every time Eminem and Rihanna get together, the results are pure magic.  This song is no different, and I found it to be a true highlight from Eminem's 2013 Marshall Mathers LP 2.

#3: NICKI MINAJ - ANACONDA: Yes, this is an incredibly STUPID song.  In fact, it even was even among the songs I choose as the dumbest of the year (available HERE)...  But that doesn't mean that it's not AWESOME!  I enjoyed every opportunity I got to play this song on the air.  Nicki's verses are so fun to sing along with, and that Sir Mix-a-Lot sample is sick.  I don't know exactly why, but I love this song!

I'm sure you've seen it by now, but this video might be a little much for some viewers.

#2: SAM SMITH - STAY WITH ME: It's no secret, I'm a big fan of piano ballads.  The man many people are calling 2014's breakout artist, Sam Smith OWNED a large part of 2014's pop charts.  He had hits with Disclosure and Naughty Boy, as well as "I'm Not the Only One", but the one that I'll always cling to as the definitive Sam Smith song from 2014 was the one penned about a one night stand...  "Stay With Me."  His vocal performance is out of this world.

#1: JOHN LEGEND - ALL OF ME: Like I mentioned earlier, I'm a sucker for piano ballads.  My favorite song of 2013 was Rihanna and Mikky Ekko's "Stay", and this year I'm choosing another piano ballad as my favorite.  While it's too new to appreciate in its totality now, "All of Me" will not only go down as the most beautiful song of 2014, but among one of the most beautiful songs written of ALL-TIME!  Not only is the piano melody amazingly gorgeous, this will be remembered as John Legend's most remarkable vocal performance.  This song is completely unforgettable, and will be with us until the end of time.  You'll hear it at weddings; You'll hear it at funerals; You'll hear it at proms...  Until the end of time.
