When I first saw the email about our Pet of the Week, Arlo, I couldn’t help but think he looks like he should star in his own 1980s animated film. He’s just so cute and cuddly—just look at that smile!

He adores everyone—people and dogs alike—and he’s generally pretty calm, fitting in well in any environment.

He’s up to date on all his vaccinations, deworming, and flea/tick prevention. Plus, he’s neutered and microchipped! While he is heartworm positive, his treatment has already started with Warrick Humane Society, and they’ll continue to care for him until he’s negative, even after he finds his forever home.

Arlo has been at the shelter for just under 60 days, and we’re hoping he won’t have to wait much longer! His adoption fee has been discounted by 20%. Feel free to stop by the shelter to meet him—Wednesday to Thursday from 12-7 and Friday to Sunday from 12-4. WHS is a mile past Castle High School on Vann Rd. in Newburgh.

MORE WHS PETS UP FOR ADOPTION

Arrow

I’m healthy, neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on my vaccines, ready to be the center of your world. I don't like stinkin' cats and am picky about my dog friends. I'm not picky about my family though! I don't care if they are thin, fat, short, tall, or what color they are! If you’re looking for a loyal and loving companion who will make every day brighter, I just might be the one for you. Ask the staff about my adoption fee and help me find the forever home I’ve been dreaming of. Please share my story and consider bringing me into your heart and home. I'll love you forever. -Arrow

He's up to date on all vaccines, deworming, flea/tick and heartworm prevention, and he's also neutered and microchipped! To help Bourbon find his new home, the WHS has "shaken" things up by reducing his adoption fee by 20%! Come visit him during their open hours: Wednesday-Thursday from 12-7 PM and Friday-Sunday from 12-4 PM.

Petting Zoos Within Driving Distance of the Tri-State

Anyone who knows me knows that I prefer animals over people most days. I tell my boyfriend all of the time that when we retire, I want a little plot of land with some cows, goats, pigs, chickens, and a whole lot of dogs. A girl can dream, right?
Sadly, since I can't have my own farm anytime soon, I guess I will settle for enjoying other people's animals, which means frequenting petting zoos and farms is pretty common for us. Luckily, I don't have to drive far to pet all the animals I can fit into a day.
From elephants to highland cattle to Clydesdales and a coatimundi, the tristate offers a wide variety of petting zoos that can be visited in a short day trip. Next thing you know, you'll be making your own list of animals to have on your own dream farm like me.
