or the first time in 50 years, Mesker Park Zoo has an Anteater! His name is Mr. Pickles, and he was born in 2016 at the Potawatomi Zoo in South Bend.

Even though he is rather large, the anteater doesn't have teeth, and feeds on tiny insects. How does 30,000 ants or termites sound? Yuck! Mr. Pickles enjoys mealworms for treats!

You'll find Mr. Pickles near the zoo entrance, in the South America section.

Sadly, there are only an estimated  5,000 in the wild. Their habitats are threatened by urbanization and habitat loss, road kills, hunting and fires.
