When I find myself utterly overwhelmed by a massive project, I have this mantra I say out loud:

HOW DO YOU EAT AN ELEPHANT? ONE BITE AT A TIME.

It's not about literally eating elephants (definitely not!), but rather breaking down daunting tasks into manageable pieces. By tackling small tasks one by one, eventually the whole project gets done.

That same principle is behind the Warrick Humane Society's new $5 Donation Drive to Save Lives. Most people can spare $5, and if lots of people chip in, those small donations add up to something huge—like a whole new building for the Humane Society. It's all about everyone doing a little part to achieve something big and impactful together.

The empty lot on Vann Road will be the future home of the Warrick Humane Society. Kicked off by a generous donation by the late Michael McGinnis and his family, WHS launched a 1.25 million dollar capital campaign for the new facility.

On July 5th, they posted this to Facebook:

Now more than ever we need a larger shelter to meet the growing demands in our community & we can only do this with your help. We are currently operating with only 26 large dog kennels & 15 small dog kennels. A new shelter would help us to save an additional 400 homeless pets in the Tri-State from local Animal Control Facilities. Thank you to all of our Warrick Warriors, our Supporters, our Volunteers, & most of all the staff at WHS that is working tirelessly every single day to make a difference.
You can donate through FB, online, or stop by the shelter…Every single donation makes a difference!

Petting Zoos Within Driving Distance of the Tri-State

Anyone who knows me knows that I prefer animals over people most days. I tell my boyfriend all of the time that when we retire, I want a little plot of land with some cows, goats, pigs, chickens, and a whole lot of dogs. A girl can dream, right?
Sadly, since I can't have my own farm anytime soon, I guess I will settle for enjoying other people's animals, which means frequenting petting zoos and farms is pretty common for us. Luckily, I don't have to drive far to pet all the animals I can fit into a day.
From elephants to highland cattle to Clydesdales and a coatimundi, the tristate offers a wide variety of petting zoos that can be visited in a short day trip. Next thing you know, you'll be making your own list of animals to have on your own dream farm like me.

How To Tell Someone You're From Warrick County Without Saying You're From Warrick County

There are several ways to tell someone where you're from without actually telling them where you're from. Let's take Warrick County for example.
