Every year, I try to get my daughter's teachers something for the holidays. They have a tough job, they deal with (and nurture) our children day after day! They deserve a lot more than I can provide!

I'm sure they are all sick of 'World's Best Teacher' mugs. So, what's a parent to do? I asked local teachers what they want and the answers surprised me!

1. A Handmade Card

Tell the teachers in your life how much they have impacted your life or your child's life.

2. Handmade Gifts

This one kind of surprised me. I mean, don't get me wrong but out of the 8 million craft and art projects that come home, only about .01% make it to the keep file. I was surprised that teachers want items from their kids. Maybe they meant cookies or some other food product?

3. School Supplies

I mean, we could all use more tissues and glue sticks in our lives! I'd feel kind of weird giving her teacher school supplies and toys and puzzles if they teach younger children. Merry Christmas, here's some crayons.

4. Monogrammed Wear

I can kind of see that - our company gives us new station-wear every year for Christmas and  I kinda love it!

5. Gift cards

Most teachers said gift cards. Target was a favorite and one teacher reminded me that NOT EVERYONE LIKES STARBUCKS.

And there you have it! Treat your teachers right!!
