The Vanderburgh Public Library is hopping on the "no more late fines" bandwagon. In an effort to encourage more children and families to check out library materials, libraries across the country are ridding people of overdue fines.

Libraries have noticed people are more reluctant to come to the library if they have fines, and it's counterproductive.

Starting Sept. 1, EVPL is hopping on the trend and alleviating everyone of their fines. It's important to recognize the difference between a fee and a fine.

According to the EVPL, fines are punitive charges for being overdue. Fees are for library services such as copying and printing, and also for material replacement costs.

So, if you're one of those people (cough, cough...me) that's been avoiding the library because you're a horrible person and you have late fees, you're all clear starting Sept. 1.
