Tri-State Swifties, Here’s What You Need to Know Before Seeing Taylor in Nashville

If you are one of the lucky ones who won the Ticketmaster war, and scored Taylor Swift's The Eras Tour tickets, congratulations!

Scoring tickets was only half the battle as many fans are fighting against long lines, traffic, and deciding the right time to use the bathroom during the show (yes, this is a real thing). Luckily, we live in a world of social media where fellow Swifties are sharing helpful advice after attending their shows. With the Nashville leg of the tour right around the corner on May 5th through 7th at Nissan Stadium, I have compiled a list of tips to make the process go as smoothly as possible so that you can be prepared in advance.

From venue rules down to the chants you need to know, enjoy the peace of mind of knowing what to expect so you can focus on planning the last details of your costume for the show!

1. Check the venue's policies in advance.

Let's face it. Traffic and long lines are pretty much a guarantee. The last thing you want is any further inconvenience from not knowing one of Nissan Stadium's policies. Guidelines like the clear bag policy are important to know before standing in line at the gate so that you don't risk being sent back to your car with an unapproved item.

Nissan Stadium's clear bag policy states:

We strongly encourage guests NOT to bring any type of bag to Nissan Stadium to expedite entry at the gates. If you need to bring personal items to the game, please familiarize yourself with our clear bag policy.

Clear bags must be 12″ x 12″ x 6″ or smaller. This includes clear cinch sacks, clear diaper bags, gallon ziploc bags, etc.

Non-transparent bags, wallets and cases must not exceed 4.5” X 6.5” even if you are placing it inside` your larger clear bag. See diagram below. Please Note: Non-transparent bags (4.5″ x 6.5″ or smaller) are still subject to inspection by security personnel at the gates.

2. Establish a plan for parking.

With 70,000 people planning to attend, you can imagine finding a parking spot is going to be tricky. Whether you purchase parking ahead of time from the stadium (if it isn't sold out) or from a resale site, you'll have the peace of mind of knowing where to park once you conquer the traffic. I found my parking pass on VividSeats for $75 and that's on the lower end of the spectrum. If you live around the area, it may even be beneficial to scope out parking possibilities days in advance.

3. Arrive early (or late) to avoid traffic. If you want to catch the openers while having time to purchase merch if you choose (more on that later), it is highly suggested to leave with an extra 2 to 3 hours. Another TikToker, @hannah_mann, shared her experience on leaving later. This is another option as long as you don't mind missing the openers.

Take note: Expect to be on your feet for hours! As tempting as it is to wear those Taylor-inspired glitter boots and sparkly heels, make sure to wear shoes that are also comfortable. You don't want to find yourself needing to sit down during the set because your feet are hurting. Be sure to break those shoes in or prioritize comfort over your costume. No matter what, it's the experience that matters and you don't want to ruin it with blistered feet. 5. Hydrate and eat a full meal before the show.

There is no doubt that staying hydrated and making sure there is food in your stomach is important to keep up your energy levels for the show. Nissan Stadium allows guests to bring an empty, soft plastic, disposable water bottle through the gate that they can refill at the number of water fountains if they want to avoid those venue prices. Also, it is best to eat a full meal right before the show which you can do on the way there or grab something from the concessions stand.

6. Have a plan for getting home after the concert

If you have been watching any videos on social media, one of the major frustrations of the show is the lack of Ubers, Lyfts, or taxis available once the concert lets out. Not only that, but many are finding prices to be raised astronomically. Instead of relying on these services, have a plan in place to ensure you make it back to your hotel room or home safely.

7. Bathroom plan for when ya gotta go Okay, time to get real. Everyone uses the bathroom, and if you are staying hydrated (like you should) you will no doubt have to use the bathroom at some point during the concert. Whether you time it during the opening acts or one of the interludes, listen to your body.

8. Pack some of these useful items

The show in its entirety is 5+ hours. From taking tons of photos to screaming in a jam-packed stadium, items such as cough drops, portable battery chargers, and earplugs are helpful to have on hand.  It is also helpful to keep a comfy change of clothes and shoes, snacks, and water in your car for after the show just in case traffic becomes backed up and you are stuck longer than you anticipate.

9. Buy merch online to avoid long lines

Okay, hear me out. If it is worth it to you to arrive extremely early to buy that blue crewneck, then by all means, plan for the time to wait in line. If you hate lines as I do, purchase Eras Tour merch from the online shop. They have most everything sold at the venue, and you won't waste time in line.

10. Take amazing photos and videos Of course, you must capture photos and videos of your favorite moments to hold on to forever. Brush up on cell phone camera tips so that you can take photos that aren't blurry or washed out by the bright stage lights.

@theallwrightlife We go to a lot or concerts, but this was the largest concert I’ve ever been to with 70,000 seats sold out on night one. But the coolest thing of all were these bracelets that were handed out upon entry. The tech behind these was phenomenal. They were all synced to every song, but not just every song…they were synced by section in the stadium. Every section was pinging a different color or light pulse. Sometimes they formed giant hearts in the audience. I wish the video showed the phenomena better because it made thr concert extra magical and appealing no matter where your seats were. 12. Learn all of the Swiftie chants and take part in the fan project 

Along with those super cool wristbands are the chants that fans will be screaming at the top of their lungs at the show. If you haven't attended a Taylor Swift concert in a long time, or like ever, make sure you learn the chants to take part in all of the fun. Also, through the power of social media, fans have also created a special project to exchange friendship bracelets at the shows they attend. If you take part in the project, just make sure to only make enough that you can wear on your wrists or fit into the small clear bag. This bracelet exchange is sure to add something a little extra special for the Swiftie fandom.
