Don't believe everything you read on the internet, folks.

Earlier this week, a local post on Facebook went viral after the poster claimed new chemicals were being added to Evansville's water system. In the original post, it said these alleged new chemicals would make pets sick, and even went as far as saying it could cause symptoms such as vomiting blood.

But, none of that is true.

Officials with the Evansville Water Department caught wind of the rumors and is setting the record straight. According to an article posted on Eyewitness News, the department says no one has contacted them with complaints of a sick dog. Eyewitness News also called around to several veterinarians offices and found no reported cases of dogs being treated for such reactions.

The Evansville Water Department said all drinking water meets EPA standards and there have been no changes in chemicals or disinfectants.
