Like most people, I start to get the "winter blues" around this time of the year. I get in the same routine of waking up, brushing my teeth, heading to work, and eventually dozing off on the couch by 8 p.m.

It's so easy to give into the holiday season and push your workout routine to the side. There's candy everywhere, your couch is warm and cozy, and there's a family feast for every celebration. However, this is the most important time of the year to stay ON your workout routine and avoid temptation (at least a little).

Since finding out I was pregnant, I've used that as an excuse to give in a little more than my health-conscious self normally would. I'm a pretty clean eater, I workout regularly, and I try my best (trust me, I'm not perfect) to avoid excess sugar and carbs. I kind of started to lean on this pregnancy as a way out of my routine almost immediately.

Then, it hit me...GIRL STOP! I've worked too damn hard to give up now. I knew I needed to get back into my gym routine...especially with all the snacking and eating that happens around the holidays. If I was going to need to up my diet to help this baby grow, I needed to stay committed to working out. So, I joined 517 Fitness.

I already have one gym membership, but that's more for cardio and endurance. I've sadly let weight lifting take a back seat here recently. But, weight lifting and machines have always been my favorite part of working out. I've actually lost weight since finding out I was pregnant, and I know it's because I'm losing muscle mass. It started to really freak me out. Thank goodness I found 517 Fitness, because they have literally everything I could ever need to stay on top of my fitness routine.

Not to mention, there's tons of supplements and pre-workouts to choose from, if you're needing a little extra boost. While I have to take a pause on the pre-workout, they do happen to carry my favorite kind in every flavor (GET THE PINK STARBURST FLAVOR AND THANK ME LATER).

I was in awe of everything about 517 Fitness and I actually got excited walking around the gym. I was excited to be back in my happy place and motivated to not let the holidays (or the pregnancy) completely ruin what I've been working so hard for. I had to stay healthy for myself and my little one on the way! Luckily the staff there was also AMAZING and helpful. I felt welcomed.

There were people at all different stages of their journey walking around and I didn't feel any pressure to look, dress, or act a certain way...which is much different than other gyms I've visited.

It also doesn't hurt that they have TONS of equipment, so there weren't any lines or waiting to use a machine.

The weight floor was immaculate and had several weight options and a selection of squat racks and dead-lifting platforms. I knew my boyfriend would be super jealous of my new gym, so we went ahead and signed him up too! They have bundles for couples memberships that are extremely affordable.

Anyway, I'm very excited to start my new journey at 517 Fitness. They have so many exciting things planned and I'm eager to be a part of it. For example...they're starting a boxing class in January. SAY WHAT? And they offer Zumba, which I've never tried, so I guess you could say I'm pumped.

517 Fitness is on Weinbach Ave right off the Lloyd Expressway. Stop in today and talk to someone from the staff.  I promise you'll leave with a membership! Or, give a membership as a gift for the holidays. Start out 2018 on a good note.

And, please, eat the candy. Enjoy yourself. But get in that workout, too.
