The K9 Kitchen, a beloved bakery for your furry friends in Evansville, Indiana, is rolling out its latest batch of treats just in time for Christmas 2024!

Lisa Miller's journey to becoming a pet treat entrepreneur has been anything but ordinary. In high school, she worked at the Donut Bank and discovered a passion for baking. But instead of diving straight into her dream, she entered the workforce after graduation. It wasn't until her father, before he passed away from cancer, told her to follow her passion that Lisa decided to take the plunge.

During the COVID pandemic, Lisa made a life-changing decision to go back to school. She earned a degree in animal behavior, along with a certification in nutrition. Alongside her studies, Lisa was on her own health journey, realizing how much food impacted her wellbeing and behavior. That inspired her to combine her love for animals with her newfound knowledge and make it her career.

As she began training animals, Lisa noticed that healthy treats were key to motivating them. She also had a dog with allergies, which pushed her to experiment with healthy, allergy-friendly ingredients. It was in her own kitchen that she whipped up her first batch of liver treats. Her husband, jokingly calling it “The K9 Kitchen,” unintentionally predicted the future of Lisa's new business.

Today, Lisa offers a wide variety of treats and meals for pets, all made with wholesome ingredients. With the holidays fast approaching, she wanted to create something special that pet parents could safely give their animals without worry. As veterinarians often see a spike in pets suffering from toxic table scraps and overindulgence during the holiday season, Lisa is passionate about providing safe, healthy alternatives for your furry companions to enjoy.

The K9 Kitchen is ready to spread some holiday cheer—because your pets deserve to indulge, too, without the risk!

Pet surrenders are at an all-time high, while donations and adoptions have slowed, leaving shelters and humane societies overwhelmed with limited space and tough decisions to make. You can help by adopting, fostering, donating supplies, or simply sharing posts to give these deserving animals a chance at finding their forever homes.
