Western Kentucky, Southern Indiana, and Southern Illinois are in for a Wild Weather Week
As the person who monitors the weather pretty regularly and reports on it for our radio station market, I have to say, Friday's storms caught me off guard! I knew it was going to rain, but the extreme flash flooding and tornado that hit the west side were a complete surprise to me!
Living in Western KY and Southern IN for my entire life has made me a bit cautious when there are calls for severe weather. We hear it a lot, but until recently, it was usually just precautionary. Now, it seems that dangerous situations occur more frequently than not these days.
So, buckle up because we're in for a wild weather week, and if you live here too, you'll well know that it's all entirely possible!
MONDAY
Let's start with today. The NWS has predicted that some storms are expected to roll through the region and could bring MORE flash flooding.
Showers and storms are expected to be widespread on Monday with heavy rain and isolated flooding possible. A few areas in SEMO could see localized totals of 3 to 4 inches!
They went on to say that we are currently in a flood watch.
A Flash Flood Watch is effect until 7 PM CDT for southeast Missouri and from 10 AM CDT until midnight for parts of southern Illinois along and south of Highway 13 and all of western Kentucky.

WEDNESDAY
On Wednesday, the tri-state area could be in for more dangerous weather. We are at a SLIGHT risk for severe weather.
Scattered strong to severe thunderstorms will develop late Wednesday afternoon into Wednesday night ahead of an approaching cold front. Damaging wind gusts, a few tornadoes, and large hail are the main threats. Stay tuned for updates.
SATURDAY - MONDAY
This weekend, the hits just keep on coming. After all this rain, the humidity will be off the charts, and June is bringing the heat. With temps in the 90s, it will be hot, humid, and totally miserable.
