An Internship Changed the Course of My Career

Back in college, I had no idea what I wanted to be “when I grew up,” but I knew the clock was ticking. I’m a creative person, and if I can’t express that in some way, I’m miserable. Since I was majoring in Public Relations and Advertising (the go-to major for kids who hate math), I decided to ask one of my favorite people in the world, Chad Benefield, if I could spend a semester with him in continuity and production at 92.5 WBKR. He said yes, showed me the ropes, and it became a turning point in my life.

From there, I worked in publishing and marketing before landing back here at Townsquare Media, where I’ve been for the past 13 years.

Townsquare Media Offering Internships in Fall 2025

Because I was lucky enough to have an amazing mentor who helped me break into media, I’ve tried to pay it forward by taking on interns whenever I can. Of course, I can’t do it without my team. We all work together to create a fun and valuable internship experience here at the station. This fall, our programming staff is reopening our internship program for college students.

What You Need to Know

We can only take interns who are enrolled in an internship class through an accredited college or university. If you’re a high school student or someone interested in media but not enrolled in a college internship class, we unfortunately can’t offer you an internship. However, you’re welcome to reach out about job shadowing at our offices for a few days.

The interns will be working out of the Evansville offices a couple of days a week. Early birds are encouraged because you’ll get to sit in on our live morning shows. You don’t have to talk on-air if you don’t want to, but we want you to experience how it’s done.

We’re looking for self-motivated individuals who don’t need constant direction. We’re busy, and our interns have to keep up!

Creativity is key. We do a lot of fun digital content and want interns who “get it” and are comfortable creating social content our audiences will love.

25 Hidden Evansville Secrets That May Blow Your Mind

An Evansville resident recently posted a question in the "I Grew Up in Evansville, Indiana" Facebook group asking other members to share any hidden or little-known facts about our city not many residents would know. The answers were wide-ranging, covering everything from our manufacturing history to our place in Civil War, to a couple of popular landmarks still standing today that were the first in the entire state of Indiana. No matter how long you've lived here, chances are there will be a few things on this list you didn't know about the city we call home.

How to Turn Off the @everyone tag on Facebook

Lately, I've been really annoyed by the constant use of the @everyone tag on Facebook. While I can’t quite pinpoint why it annoys me so much, I found out there’s a way to turn off those notifications if you know where to look!
