In Evansville, you aren't allowed to set off fireworks until June 29.

And that's just one of several ordinances Evansville has against fireworks.

According to Evansville city’s ordinance, fireworks can only be let off from the dates of June 29 – July 3 and July 5 – 9, only during the hours of 5p.m. and two hours after sunset but not past 10:30p.m. Are you following? There's an exception, obviously, on the 4th of July.

On July 4, fireworks in Evansville can be let off between the hours of 10 a.m. and midnight.

So, basically, if you're already setting off fireworks, you're breaking the law.

Here's a few more important laws and their consequences for firework release in Evansville:

1. You must be 18 or older to purchase fireworks.
**If you're under the age of 18 and adult is not present, you could be fined $500**

2. An adult must be present if children are handling fireworks.

3. You must only set off fireworks on your own property or a property designated for firework release.
**Illegal use of fireworks at an unapproved location is subject to a maximum fine of $500 per citation**

So, be smart and safe, and have a happy Fourth of July!!!
