Some people say that the college years in one's life are meant to help define just who they are. It includes experiences good and bad, spiritual journeys, and education before jumping into a the real world. For me it has a lot to do about religion. I grew up in Christianity but even as a kid I never thought in depth about what it means to be Christian.

I do believe the Bible teaches good lessons for people in everyday life. However, my beliefs are my own. I believe in a higher power that created the universe but I wouldn't consider this being as the Christian God. I also do believe that our spirits go somewhere else after we die because the idea of ceasing to exist just doesn't make since to me. Also though I believe in evolution of species.

For the last five years, I have struggled with my spiritual beliefs and I soul searched in many different ways to figure out this part of me. A little less than two years ago I was introduced to Falun Dafa. Fulan Dafa is a form of meditation with five exercises. It includes teachings from Buddhism and Taoism but it is its own thing.

Falun Dafa is a cultivation of energy form of meditation and teaches Zhen, Shan, Ren or Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance. It is about disposing of all attachments so that you can return to your true self.

Ideally it is good to cultivate at least once a day however I do it once a week and has helped me in a lot of ways. I have suffered on and off with depression and anxiety from a pretty early age. As I got older those conditions became more intense and I have been to some dark places. So I started to cultivate and after a few months I have not felt depressed even a little bit. Falun Dafa cultivation can help improve the wellness of not just yourself but even those that live with you. If you cultivate in your own home, you can potentially help your family. Not to mention it will help you when you are stressed.

Falun Dafa has helped me a great deal and I will continue to cultivate the rest of my life. So my relgious beliefs aside, I believe cultivating is good for the universe and its inhabitants. It has its own book written by Li Hongzhi called Zhaun Falun but i don't consider it as a religion.

To wrap this up I say after the past five years I am comfortable with myself spiritually and I'm excited for what the future holds as I continue my cultivation.
