Charlie Still Has Puppy Play Energy – Warrick Humane Society Pet of the Week
I have a special place in my heart for senior dogs. I had my doggo Chaz for 16 wonderful years and he passed when he was 17. I wanted more years with him - even though he had health issues, couldn't see, and spent most of his days sleeping. He was with me when I was single, when I got married, and when I had my daughter. He was always there to comfort me when things were bad and celebrate when things were great. He was a constant in my life and when he passed, it was like a part of me went with him.
I was his entire world and I couldn't imagine if something had happened to me and he had to go live somewhere else in his golden years. But unfortunately, this happens quite a bit. I've noticed a few senior dogs lately that need a new home. Senior dogs have a harder time finding a home because of expenses, energy levels, and the amount of time they have left. But older dogs can offer so much. They are usually housetrained and well past those annoying puppy habits so if you are a low-key family, a senior dog might be perfect for you.
Meet Charlie
One very sweet senior that's up for adoption is Charlie. Charlie is going to require a very special family. At 12-years-old, he's definately considered a senior.
Charlie Requires a Special Home
He came to the WHS with teeth and skin issues but they have been treated and he's doing much better. Charlie doesn't do well with other dogs or cats but he loves his people fiercely. He just doesn't like to share attention!

Why You Should Consider Charlie
He's a Maltese mix so he's small and fluffy and a great lap dog. He's also potty pad trained and goes outside! He'd be PERFECT for an older person who just wants a quiet dog without a long commitment.
What the WHS Says About Charlie
From the WHS Staff: "He is a sweet boy in need of a retirement home. He would love to cuddle with you and is the cutest when he plays!"

What Else You Should Know About Charlie
He's up to date on all vaccines, deworming, flea/tick/heartworm prevention, and is neutered and microchipped! His adoption fee is includes a dental that he has already had done!
