Busch Stadium in St. Louis Transforming Into Unique Golf Experience in November
If you ask me, there aren't many better ways to spend a nice, warm, sunny day than on a golf course. And, even if you don't ask me, I'll tell you anyway. Even on the days when you're slicing every drive and your putts all come up a little short, you're still outside, enjoying the weather, and more than likely, a few drinks. One thing I like to try and do as much as I can is play courses I've not played before. It doesn't happen often because it usually requires a trip out of town. But, a new type of course coming to St. Louis for three days only this Fall seems like it would be worth the trip.
Upper Deck Golf Bringing Its Unique Brand of Golf to Busch Stadium
Upper Deck Golf allows golfers to play the game they love in a way they've never played it before — inside one of the country's well-known football or baseball stadiums. Tee boxes are set up all around the upper levels of the stadium. Golfers play the nine-hole "course" by teeing off from each box and aiming for one of the target holes on the playing field.
Each hole is a par-3 and the player's score for each hole is based on where the ball lands on the target. A hole-in-one will earn you an eagle (-2 below par). Land on or within the painted ring circling each flag and you'll put a birdie (-1) on your scorecard. Anywhere on the green will be good for a par, on the general playing surface, but not on the green will score you a bogey (+1), and failing to land anywhere on the playing surface will get you a double-bogey (+2).
Check out the video below to get a good idea of what it looks like in person.
Looks pretty wild, doesn't it? It also looks like a ton of fun.
According to the company's website, players can bring their own clubs, but since all the holes are short par 3s, only sand wedges through eight irons will be permitted. If you don't have your own clubs, complimentary clubs will be available at each hole. Everyone who plays also gets 18 complimentary golf balls.
Upper Deck Golf at Busch Stadium Ticket Information
The event offers two different types of tee times. The standard tee time covers your round, the complimentary golf balls, special stadium access, and access to the Clubhouse Bar which will feature driving, chipping, and putting challenges.
VIP tee times are also available and include everything the standard tee time includes along with free entry to the challenges inside the Clubhouse Bar, extra golf balls, and a complimentary meal and beverage item.
The website doesn't list the price for either and as of this writing only gives you the option of joining a waitlist for a tee time by entering your e-mail address. I'm not sure if that means it's sold out (some other planned locations that have sold out say so on the website), or if all the tee times have been booked and they are leaving registration open in case someone cancels. Whatever the case, if you're interested, it probably wouldn't hurt to get your name on the list.
If you can't make it to St. Louis, the company plans on setting up at Nissan Stadium in Nashville as well. However, dates for that stop have not been announced.
