The Quickcakes Pancake Maker Needs to Be My Next Kitchen Appliance
Finally, an appliance for those of us that love pancakes and gadgets (I'm not the only one, right?).
My family and I went to Louisville recently to watch my wife's niece play in a volleyball tournament, and decided to make a weekend out of it by grabbing a hotel room. Like most hotel chains, the one we stayed in offered a complimentary bar with the standard cereals, muffins, yogurt, etc. However, unlike most hotel chains (at least those I've stayed in), this one opted to forgo the standard waffle maker with premixed batter cups for the Quickcakes Pancake Maker.
Here's how it works (at least from what I can tell); you press the button on the front and the machine squirts out a dollop of batter onto a slow-moving, heated conveyor belt. Heating elements inside the machine cook the pancake to golden brown as it makes it way toward the end where it drops the pancake on your waiting plate.
My wife would probably disagree, but I think this would be a welcome addition to our kitchen counter top. Two small problems; one, from what I can tell, it's only available for purchase by hotels, restaurants, etc. Two, with that said, I did find one on eBay — for $2,388.95! I think I'll just stick to my $20 griddle.
