Steely Dan Co-Founder Walter Becker Dead at 67
Walter Becker, guitarist, bassist and co-founder of iconic '70s rock band Steely Dan, has passed away.
According to his official web site, the musician died on Sunday, September 3. He was 67.
No other details about his passing have been released. TMZ reports that Becker "had been very ill and underwent surgery last month."
Becker and Donald Fagen formed Steely Dan after meeting at New York's Bard College in the late '60s. In the early '70s, the pair moved to California to pursue their band, and released their debut LP, Can't Buy a Thrill, in 1972.
During the '70s, the band produced a string of hits including "Rikki Don't Lose that Number," "Deacon Blues," "Kid Charlemagne," "Hey Nineteen" and "My Old School."
Steely Dan was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001.
