Reindeer Farm in Indiana’s Christmas Town Opening for Summer Season
What is Santa Without His Reindeer?
That’s the question Southern Indiana resident Tracy Haycox asked herself. And she knew exactly what to do. To make Santa’s summer home complete, she opened a reindeer ranch in Santa Claus, Indiana.

From Dairy Farm to Reindeer Ranch
Back in 2019, Tracy decided it was time to upgrade her dairy farm. Since reindeer and cows share some similarities, it made sense to bring in a few of Santa’s reindeer. At first, the farm wasn't open to the public. They just took the reindeer off-site to events. But last holiday season, that changed with the launch of ranch tours. And now, they've just announced the addition of a summer season, too.

How to Visit Santa’s Reindeer
To plan your visit, you’ll need to head to their website and book a reservation in advance. When you arrive at the farm, you'll check in and join a tour group of about 15 people max. You'll receive a feed cup and head to the pasture for an up-close experience with the reindeer.
Tracy shared that the tour includes an educational presentation, feeding time, photo ops, and even a gift shop. It's a hands-on way to learn all about these magical creatures.
Meet the Reindeer
Currently, they have four reindeer at the farm - two females and two males, but they have just made a deal with Santa to bring two more down. He can't fly them here himself, so they are coming by plane. Earlier this year, the ranch welcomed its first baby, and they are hoping for four babies next spring (fingers crossed)!
Plan Ahead for the Holidays
Tracy says holiday tours tend to book up quickly, so it’s best to reserve at least a week in advance. She’s not sure what to expect for the summer season yet, but with tours lasting under an hour, it’s a great add-on for anyone visiting Santa Claus, Indiana.
I'm really excited about this addition. We love visiting Santa at the Santa Claus Museum, getting a frozen hot chocolate and some treats from Kevin at Santa's Candy Castle, buying toys at Santa's Toys, touring the Santa Claus Land of Lights, and writing a letter to Santa at the old post office every Christmas. This will fit right in!
