New Stardust Barbie Released for Space Oddity 50th Anniversary

In Celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the release of David Bowie's 'Space Oddity', Mattel has issued a new collector's edition barbie that some have dubbed Stardust Barbie!

'Ziggie Stardust' was David Bowie's alter ego for Space Oddity and Barbie dons the red and blue striped Ziggy space suit. It was fashioned directly from the suit Bowie wore during his last concert ever in London. Mattel even gave Stardust Barbie red hair and the iconic 'Astral Sphere' that Ziggie had that looks more like a bad bruise!

The doll is set to start retailing at around $50 but I'm sure that price will skyrocket as demand for the new collector's item begins to peak.
