Verity Movie Trailer Has Book Fans Losing It After First Look

Okay, full disclosure. I enjoy reading, but I do not read for fun as much as I used to because, as an editor, I read all day long.

When my bonus daughter gifted me a copy of Verity a few years ago and warned me it was extra spicy, I took that with a grain of salt. I love a good mystery, but so many books drag on forever and never really deliver. I need intensity from page one to the finish line.

Holy moly, author Colleen Hoover delivered.

I literally could not put the book down. I read it cover to cover in just a couple of weekdays. It was better than anything on TV.

Colleen Hoover Books Are Hit or Miss for Me

She also warned me that that it was the best book by this author and that, while the others were good, nothing touched Verity. I read It Ends with Us and watched the movie that sparked the famous feud between Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively. I was underwhelmed by both, although the book was definitely better.

Verity Trailer Looks Like It Nailed the Dark Energy

Yesterday, MGM Entertainment dropped the trailer for Verity, and I almost peed my pants.

Starring Anne Hathaway, Dakota Johnson, and Josh Hartnett, the trailer looked like they actually captured the dark spirit of the book. That is not easy to do.

I, for one, am looking forward to it.

What Is Verity About

Without giving too much away, the story follows Lowen Ashleigh, who gets hired by Jeremy Crawford to ghostwrite novels for his bestselling author wife, Verity, who is unable to finish after an accident. While staying in the Crawford home to work, Lowen uncovers some disturbing things that twist the plot around and around. And Hoover leaves you wondering what the heck just happened.

When Will Verity Be in Theaters?

Verity will premiere in theaters on October 2 in the U.S.
