For those of us who grew in Yankee Land (aka the northern states) I think it’s safe to say that we are not big Mardi Gras celebrators.  For most of us, our knowledge of the holiday stops at knowing it’s something that happens in New Orleans during this time of year.  Oh, and there are beads involved for some reason.  However, as a former implant of the Bayou State, I was lucky enough to experience two Mardi Gras seasons.  Let me tell you that there is so much more to it than you probably thought.  Here’s what I learned about the holiday season that is Mardi Gras.
