Not what you'd have expected from me? I understand, but this is one show that I will be attending - and I can't wait! Find out why!

I think most of you know that while I I love Top 40/Pop, I am also a huge rock-n-roll girl. Because of my love of all things rock - new and classic - my daughter has grown up with that influence, and that has grown her into a fan as well.

Back in the fall of 2009, Lynyrd Skynyrd came to Evansville on their 'God & Guns' tour, and I had the opportunity to take my daughter to see the show at Robert's Stadium. Knowing most of the words to most of the songs, my then 10-year-old daughter had such a great time! She even had the opportunity to go back stage to meet the band. She told me later how nice the band had been to her, and how the current lead singer, Johnny Van Zant had called her 'sweetheart.' I found it amusing that Johnny wasn't much taller than my daughter was at the time!

Towards the end of the concert, they of course played one of the most well known songs in music history. They always do it the same way - they ask the crowd "What song is it ya'll wanna hear tonight?" In one of my most proud mom-moments ever, I looked over at my daughter as she threw her "rock fist" in the air and shouted at the top of her lungs: "FREEBIRD!!!" Needless to say that is a moment that she and I will forever remember! Not only was it the first concert that Elizabeth had ever been to, but it was something she and I did together, just the two of us.

When she heard on the radio this week that Lynyrd Skynyrd is coming to The Ford Center August 1st for their 40th Anniversary tour, she immediately got excited and asked: "Can we go?! Me & you?!" I smiled that warm-hearted-super-proud mom smile.
