Jersey Shore Battling Back From Devastating Fire
New Jersey Governor Chris Christie said Friday the fire that ravaged the Jersey Shore on Thursday is now 95% fully contained, although authorities say there are select “hot pockets” which could linger for days.
More than three-quarters of the boardwalk in Seaside Park was burned, a huge blow to a community that was rebuilding after getting hit hard by Hurricane Sandy last year.
The blaze erupted Thursday afternoon at a custard stand and ruined nearly three dozen businesses.
Governor Christie also said in a new conference (which you can see below) there were only minor injuries and, with one exception, all the damage was limited to commercial properties.
