
Illinois Named One of the Worst States for Bug Bites
Reader's Digest took a look at what each state in America is best and worst at, and when it came to Illinois, it was surprised. They said Illinois was the champion of the pumpkin. Morton, Illinois, is the pumpkin capital of the world, so it's no surprise that Libby's, also located in the state, can supply most of the nation's pumpkin supply.

The thing is, I didn't think it was all that interesting to see Illinois ranked as the best at pumpkins; it would have been better if it were pizza or hot dogs, even. However, the real headline here is that we are one of the worst states for bug bites.

The Real Problem: Bug Bites in Illinois
Just make sure you spray a lot of insect repellent on before you head out to the pumpkin patch. The Midwestern state has some of the highest rates of mosquito-related illnesses (including West Nile virus) and tick-borne diseases like Lyme’s.
