Gross! 10 Foods Hoosier Hosts Should Skip on Super Bowl Sunday
Super Bowl Sunday is one of the biggest, if not the biggest, snacking days of the year in the United States. Thus, it's not a bad idea to know what NOT to serve as part of your party platter.
I'd be lying if I said I was a huge football fan, but I do catch a game on TV every now and then. That said, Super Bowl Sunday isn't really about the touchdowns anyway. Most folks are just coming to the party to watch the commercials and take advantage of all the great snacks and beer. I've been to many Super Bowl parties over the years, and the food at some has certainly been better than others. If you're hosting the big gathering this year and don't want to fumble the ball, I'm here to help.
Super Bowl Sunday 2025
Super Bowl LVII will kick off at 5:30 p.m. (CST) on Sunday, Feb. 9, at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. Battling for the Lombardi Trophy will be the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles. The Chiefs have four Super Bowl wins under their belt, three of which have occurred within just the last five years. While the Eagles have made four Super Bowl appearances over the last several decades, they have only ever secured one victory, which was in 2018 against the New England Patriots.
Crafting a Game Day Menu
Putting together a winning Super Bowl party doesn’t have to be difficult. In fact, the simpler, the better. Finger foods are definitely the best go-to, but you can include other items based on your guests' preferences. However, there are some items you might want to avoid in 2025 if you want folks to come back again next year. I’ve taken the liberty of putting together a list of foods you should definitely steer clear of come Feb. 9. Some of these might actually come as a bit of a surprise, but their absence will ensure you avoid a last-minute Hail Mary. (Last pun, I promise).
