More Snow Could Be Headed to Indiana, Kentucky, and Illinois

Snow snow go away. Please do not ever come back.

If that has been your mantra for the past week, I have some not-so-great news. More snow is lurking in the forecast. Luckily, the NWS isn't calling for 21 inches or anything crazy like our last snowstorm. Yet. Still, even a little more winter weather feels personal at this point, especially for an already exhausted snowplow crew.

*Please note, if you are in Evansville, to add your street or neighborhood to the snow plow list, please contact Street Maintenance directly at 812-435-6000. This is the only way to be added to the list. And for heaven's sake, be nice to whoever is on the other end of the line.

What the Forecast Is Saying Right Now

At the moment, the National Weather Service is keeping things pretty broad. Translation: they are not ready to commit.

The system moving through could bring snow, sleet, freezing rain, plain rain, a mix of all of it, or absolutely nothing. It could track right over us. It could slide north. It could miss us entirely. In other words, anything could happen. It's just too early to tell.

National Weather Service Outlook

Here is the latest wording from the National Weather Service:

Confidence remains low in the details. There is a growing signal that a disturbance will pass near the region Tuesday night through Wednesday night. Temperatures may be cold enough to support a light wintry mix of snow, sleet, freezing rain, or rain. Some guidance keeps the system dry. Minor snow or ice accumulations cannot be ruled out, but it is too early to say if there will be travel impacts. The forecast will likely change in the coming days, so check for updates as we go into early next week.

They were quick to point out that this forecast will change as we get closer. So for now, it is a waiting game.

The City of Evansville has already stated that maintenance crews are preparing for another round of snow.

Official Forecast

Tuesday
A chance of rain and snow after noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 38. South southeast wind 3 to 6 mph.

Tuesday Night
A chance of rain and snow before midnight, then a chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 29. East southeast wind around 6 mph, becoming north after midnight.

Wednesday
A slight chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 35. Northwest wind 6 to 8 mph.

What You Should Do Now

At least you are a seasoned winter weather pro at this point. You know the drill. Keep an eye on updates. Stock up on bread, eggs, and milk if that is your thing. Stay warm. Take care of animals.

Even if the snow skips us, it is still bitterly cold, and that is no fun for anyone. But hey, don't let the internet "meteorologists" get you in a tizzy. We have other things to worry about, right now.
