I have a sweet spot for little, out of the way places that are off the beaten path, often referred to as a "hole in the wall." I asked my Facebook friends to tell me the best one in Evansville and the response was impressive!

According to Merriam-Webster, a "hole in the wall" is defined as "a small place (such as a bar or restaurant) that is not fancy or expensive." These types of places are my favorites when it comes to finding a great bite to eat. Not only are they typically affordable and delicious but they are more often than not, locally owned small businesses. I asked my friends on Facebook to tell me their favorite "hole in the wall" restaurant and while some of the suggestions don't meet Merriam-Webster's definition, they are still great, locally owned businesses.

One name in particular kept popping up in the comments from my Facebook friends, and honestly, it's my personal favorite "hole in the wall" too - Libby & Mom's Cafe. Libby & Mom's is a small little diner off of Diamond & Heidelbach, right beside Garvin Park.

It offers everything I love - delicious, home cooked meals, affordable prices, and great service too. Seriously, if you love things like mashed potatoes or chicken & dumplings, you'll love Libby & Mom's.

They have a daily plate lunch special as well as a short order menu like most diners, filled with burgers, fries, onion rings, etc.  Oh! And they serve a knock-out breakfast too!

There were several other honorable mentions from my Facebook friends, inluding:

The Slice

Cross Eyed Cricket

Rosie's Diner

Stockwell Inn
