Evansville Area Restaurant’s Serving Cajun Food for Fat Tuesday
It's Mardi Gras time! Meaning it's time to stuff you face full of as much Cajun cuisine you can handle. Fortunately, you won't have to travel to New Orleans get your fix as several restaurants are serving up plenty of crawfish, red beans and rice, gumbo, jambalaya, and more right here in the Tri-State!
INDIANA
The Dapper Pig - 1112 Parrett Street, Evansville
Located in the Arts District in downtown Evansville, The Dapper Pig will serve a full Cajun menu from February 9th through the 13th which includes Shrimp and Grits, Fried Frog Legs, Jumbo Crab Cakes, as well as a Creole spin on a few other dishes like Chicken Pot Pie, and Creole Pasta.
Lamasco Bar & Grill - 1331 W Franklin Street, Evansville
Lamasco Bar & Grill on Franklin Street is also getting the spirit of Mardi Gras with more traditional Mardi Gras fare including Jambalaya, Gumbo, Red Beans and Rice, Crawfish, and Po' Boy Sandwiches.
Stockwell Inn - 4001 East Eichel Avenue, Evansville
The Stockwell Inn has been cooking up Cajun favorites for years, and doesn't appear to be stopping anytime soon with another list of favorites including Chicken and Shrimp Po' Boys, Drunken Chicken, and Crawfish Etouffe.
Deerhead Sidewalk Cafe & Bar - 222 East Columbia Street, Evansville
Deerhead is widely considered one of the best pizza places in the area, but for Fat Tuesday, they whip up a few Cajun standards including Oysters on the Half Shell, Seafood Gumbo, and Jambalaya.
Leroy's Tavern - 2659 Mt Vernon Avenue, Evansville
Everyone on the west side knows when you want to rock out some karaoke, the place to go is Leroy's Tavern, a staple on that side of town for many, many years. But this time of year, it's also a place to feed your cravings for Red Beans and Rice, and Gumbo.
KC's Time Out Lounge - 1121 Washington Square, Evansville
KC's has become a great place to catch live music on the weekends, and during Mardi Gras, it's a place to grub on some delicious Cajun cuisine including Cajun BBQ Shrimp, Bread Pudding, Gator Bites, and Gumbo.
Mojo's BoneYard Sports Bar & Grille - 4920 Bellemeade Ave, Evansville
Mojo's BoneYard on Bellemeade on Evansville east side is getting in on the Mardi Gras action with a full menu of Cajun faves, including Shrimp and Crawfish Etouffee, Red Beans and Rice, Crawfish and more.
Sauced - 1113 Parrett Street, Evansville
According to an interview with the Evansville Courier & Press, expect a unique twist on the traditional Cajun cuisine when Sauced in the Arts District downtown gets into the Mardi Gras spirit. Items on the menu include Gumbo made with lobster, house-smoked duck, and andouille sausage made and smoked in house.
Walton's International Comfort Food - 956 Parrett Street, Evansville
Sauced and The Dapper Pig aren't the only two Arts District restaurants serving up some Mardi Gras fare, Walton's International Comfort Food is also jumping in with fried oyster po' boy sandwiches, a shrimp boil, and crawfish ettouffe.
Rick's 718 Bar & Lounge - 718 North 3rd Avenue, Evansville
Rick's 718 Bar & Lounge was the most recommended place for Cajun food when I asked my Facebook friends for suggestions. They'll be serving up po' boy sandwiches, gumbo, crawfish, fried oysters, gator tail, and more!
Mary & Martha's - 6840 Logan Drive, Suite A Evansville
Mary & Martha's on Logan Drive is a newcomer to the restaurant game. Having been in the catering business for a while, they opened their own restaurant in front of the east side Lowe's in Evansville back in September of 2017, specializing in southern, Caribbean, and Cajun cuisine with a menu that includes Catfish Sandwiches, Crawfish Ettouffe, and more.
Franklin Street Tavern - 2126 West Franklin Street, Evansville
Franklin Street Tavern is a great place to stop for a drink, and watch the game of your choice. It's also a great place to stop for some Mardi Gras fun with a menu that includes shrimp boil, ettouffe, and gumbo.
Pistons Bar & Grill - 2131 West Franklin Street, Evansville
Piston's serves up great food year-round (try the mozzarella sticks!), so there's no doubt the Cajun menu is going to be fantastic! Dig into jambalaya, red beans and rice, and more!
Knob Hill Tavern - 1016 State Route 662 West, Newburgh
Knob Hill Tavern is bringing back their annual "Cajun Fest" for Mardi Gras, serving up Po' Boy Sandwiches, Fried Oysters, Crawfish Etouffee, and even Crawfish and Andouille Sausage Pizza!
Archie & Clyde's - 8309 Bell Oaks Drive, Newburgh
Archie & Clyde's is known across the Tri-State for great pizza and their amazing Italian Salad, but during Mardi Gras, they're also offering up Peel and Eat Shrimp, Muffaletta Sandwiches, Oysters on the Half Shell, and more.
American Legion Auxiliary, Kapperman Post 44 - 711 State Street, Newburgh
Crawfish fans! American Legion Post 44 in Newburgh is the place to be for Fat Tuesday with a full-blown Crawfish Boil complete with corn on the cob and potatoes. The menu will also include fried gator tail, gumbo, shrimp ettouffe, and more. Plus, live music from Two Miles Back while you suck those crawfish heads.
Nellie's Restaurant - 8566 Ruffian Lane, Newburgh
Since opening taking over the former Pizza Hut location near the intersection of Bell Road and Highway 66 (Lloyd Expressway) in Newburgh, word of mouth has quickly made Nellie's a destination for breakfast and brunch. To celebrate Mardi Gras, they'll add gumbo, corn bread, and other Cajun favorites.
Commander's Grill - 118 West Locust Street, Boonville
Located on "The Square" in Boonville, Commanders will feature a different Cajun dish each weeknight during its Mardi Gras celebration. The party begins with Jambalaya on Thursday, BBQ Shrimp Po' Boys on Friday, Big Pork Chop on top of Dirty Rice Saturday, Red Beans and Rice on Sunday, and Gumbo on Fat Tuesday.
