Looking for a unique staycation soon? How about staying in a teepee?

Whenever you think about going to French Lick, you instantly think of staying at the French Lick Resort or West Baden. Those are the two big things that stand out in French Lick. I have been to both and they are beautiful. Not to mention there's the history behind West Baden and the casino with the French Lick Resort. It's a small town with actually quite a bit to do. From going to Big Splash Adventure to visiting the French Lick Winery. It's a great, and close, getaway for couples and families alike.

However, if you're looking to do something a little different the next time you visit French Lick, I found a unique option for you. Did you know that you can camp out in giant teepees in French Lick? Me neither!

It's called Sleeping Bear Retreat, and it's located on over 50 beautifully wooded acres in scenic French Lick, Indiana. There are a handful of teepees there, each with their own name. Bear, Buffalo, Deer, and Coyote are names of their teepees there. Each teepee has four cots. Also on site are picnic tables and a shelter house with a charcoal grill. Sleeping Bear Retreat also has indoor restrooms with hot showers, in case you were wondering!

According to their website, there's plenty of things to do there to keep you entertained as well. These things include:

  • Hiking or Hardcore Biking Trails
  • Catch and Release Fishing
  • Volleyball
  • Giant Chess Game
  • Fossil Digging
  • Wild Life Photography
  • Bird Watching
  • Squirrel Hunting (August 15-September 30)
  • Relaxing Around a Fire While Star Gazing
  • Paint ball
  • 9 Hole Disk Golf Course
