Are You Brave Enough to Watch ‘The Descent’ in a Tennessee Cave This October?
What's scarier than watching a movie about being trapped in a cave with creatures out to get you? Watching it inside of an actual cave!
Located in Grundy County, Tennessee, The Caverns is a cave system that covers over 8,000 linear feet of cave passages. Guests can take tours seven days a week to see every magical thing that the cave system has to offer. However, the coolest part about The Caverns is that it is home to a world-renowned underground live music venue that has been featured on the Emmy-winning PBS television series Bluegrass Underground. Take a step through this large archway to see more.
Once inside, a large room is home to “The Greatest Show Under Earth.” I'm talking about a live music venue underground inside of this cave. This music venue brings in some pretty big acts from all genres. They have hosted several concerts in 2022, not only that but there will be several tapings for the PBS series, Bluegrass Underground too. However, they will host one event that might be right up your alley if you're a horror fan.
"The Decent" at The Caverns in Tennessee
In 2005, the world was introduced to the movie "The Descent." This horror movie terrified all who watched it. For those who don't know, or need a refresher, "The Descent" is about a group of women who go on a cave expedition that goes horribly wrong. The women become trapped inside the cave and become hunted down by creatures who lurk in the cave.
How do you make this movie even scarier? By watching it inside of an actual cave! That's exactly what you'll be able to do at the Caverns this October. On Sunday, October 30th, you can venture underground to watch "The Decent" inside of the Caverns. Think about it, you have to walk down into the viewing area of the cave to watch the movie, and then you have to make your way back up out of the cave afterward. Kind of creepy, right?
Spooky Cave Tours by lantern light will also be hosted from 2-6p CT October 14th-16th & October 28th-30th. You can learn more by clicking here about these tours and how to book yours. If you would like to see "The Descent" inside of the Caverns, you can book your ticket by clicking here.
