12 Super Common Pet Peeves

Everybody gets annoyed from time to time and some things just get under our skin more than others. It happens. However, there are some common behaviors that a lot of people get annoyed by. Universally, people just sort of hate these super common pet peeves.

1) People chewing

More than any other pet peeve, this one seems to be the number one most common of them all. For whatever reason, our brains are just wired to loathe the sound of someone slopping food into their mouths and chewing it like a cow chews the cud. It's disgusting.

2) The 'fanatic'

Have you ever met someone and all they talk about is one thing all of the time? Not just a little bit, but they actually spend every breath on telling you all about the one thing they're totally obsessed with in life. You know who I'm talking about - the guy who recently decided to start vaping, or the woman who has taken up jogging that has totally changed her life, or the lady who talks about how the only foods she will eat (and that you should eat too) are gluten-free. Those people have a tendency to really get under our skin.

3) People who are chronically late

Some people are consistently late. They're so consistent in their lateness in fact, that you can set your watch by them. They're the ones that if you tell them to be there at eight show up every single time at eight-fifteen. It's almost like they do it on purpose as if they're sending you a message that their time is more valuable than yours. If you're always late, it's not fashionable - it's rude.

4) When people eat your food without permission

People either eating off of your plate or something that was yours out of the refrigerator without permission is the worst. Firstly, it's kind of gross eating food off of someone else's plate, just leaving your germs all over their food. Secondly, we were definitely going to eat that until you showed up and stole it! Either way, rude, rude, rude!

5) People who don't use turn signals

I only have one question for these people: What kind of absolute degenerate raised you?!

6) Paying for shipping

It's a little embarrassing to admit, but humans are an entitled species. One thing we now hate more than anything is paying for shipping - so much so that we will pay a company a yearly fee just so we can get free shipping on everything else we like to order. It's kind of insane.

7) The person who constantly bashes everything you like

Man, do we hate these people. It seems like every once in a while you run into a person who, whenever you share what you like always bashes every single thing you say. If you like apples, apples suddenly are terrible. If you like a certain show that show is automatically the worst show on television. If you're that guy, do us all a favor and just hush it.

8) Constant cell phone distraction

Personally, this is one of my biggest pet peeves. I cannot stand when I'm talking to someone and they're neck-deep into their phone screen. It's so annoying. It's not like I am a person standing here, physically in front of you, trying to engage you in meaningful conversation or anything. I actually will confront someone if they do this to me and if they do it repeatedly, I quit talking to them as much. I don't have time to stand around and be ignored - my kids already do that for me!

9) Referring to yourself in the third person

People who consistently refer to themselves in the third person make me want to wretch. It's almost like a form of word vomit that my ears just can't handle. Stop doing this, forever.

10) The endless selfie person

Don't get me wrong - I'm all for selfies and freedom of self-expression, but if your entire social media page is covered in only photos of you, then you've got a problem. The person who posts selfies non-stop to the point that you have to unfollow them is so annoying. Stop being so self-involved and take a picture of a tree or something.

11) Slow internet

Slow internet is the bane of our existence. In a digital world, slow internet is one of the worst things to ever happen to you, second only to no internet. Thus, slow internet is one of everyone's biggest pet peeves of all time.

12) People who watch videos in public spaces with no headphones

Anyone who can comfortably watch videos or play songs in public out loud with no headphones on is a brazen you-know-what in my opinion. How is it that your personal entertainment takes precedence over everyone else's preferences? You have to be a real butthead to do that and think it's acceptable. Everyone else thinks you're annoying too, FYI.
