‘Worlds Largest Convenience Store’ Being Built in Tennessee
Something big is coming to Sevier County, Tennessee - and it is so big it will literally be the largest in the world!
Bonkers for Buc-ee's
It seems everyone is bonkers for Buc-ee's. The popular convenience store chain is constantly growing, with new locations popping up regularly but why are they so popular? It might have something to do with their claim to house the "world's cleanest bathrooms." I mean, let's be honest, the state of a gas station bathroom can make or break a road trip.
Everything is Bigger in Texas... and Tennessee
Buc-ee's has locations in a number of states including Florida, Alabama, South Carolina, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Texas. Currently, it is the Buc-ee's location in New Braunfels, Texas that holds the record for being "The World's Largest Convenience Store"... for now! The New Braunfels location boasts an expansive 66,335 square-foot floorplan, but the Buc-ee's location planned for Sevier County, Tennessee will dwarf that by nearly 8,000 additional square feet. The total floorplan for the new location is expected to cover 74,000 square feet.
Sevierville Buc-ee's
The construction for the new convenience store is reportedly underway now, according to TheSmokies.com. They say the new facility is being built off of I-40 at Exit 407 and is expected to be open for business in May of 2023.
The new location for this massive convenience store will be Exit 407 on I-40 in Sevierville, TN.
Sevierville, for the uninitiated, is the gateway to popular tourist attractions including Dollywood in Pigeon Forge and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
Exit 407 is one of the most heavily traveled sections of interstate in the country.
Largest in the World... for Now
The Sevierville Buc-ee's will hold the title of "World's Largest" but only for a short time. The company has already announced plans for an even larger store that is expected to measure 75,000 square feet. Once complete, the title of "World's Largest Convenience Store" will go back to Texas.
