Urgent: Warrick County Shelter Pets in Danger of Euthanasia
If you’ve been looking for a furry friend or have a soft spot for animals, now is the time to head over to Warrick Animal Control.
Upset that Pets Have to Be Euthanized? Do Something About It
Friends of Warrick County Animal Control shared on social media that twelve animals are scheduled to be euthanized starting Thursday, November 6. WCAC is a government-run facility, and back in August, staff spoke to county commissioners asking for help. At that time, there was no money available for food, vaccinations, or basic care.
Unlike many non-profit shelters that take in only owner-surrendered pets, WCAC accepts both unwanted animals and strays. That means they’re often the last chance for animals with nowhere else to go.
And though we, as outsiders, can look in and feel sorry for these pets and angry at those who have to make tough calls, please know that the people working at the shelter are not to blame. They are working within the resources they have. If you are angry about this, I urge you to adopt, foster, volunteer, donate, and get your pets spayed and neutered. It's that simple.

Monty - Monty went to the vet yesterday, and his tumor removal surgery is estimated to cost between $1,200 and $1,400. The good news is the tumor does not seem to be causing him any pain, so he can live comfortably with it.
What Monty really needs is someone willing to give him arthritis medication or supplements. His little back legs shake after walking for a while, but that does not stop him. He loves to go on walks and gets around just fine. Joint supplements from a vet or over the counter would help him feel even better.
A generous sponsor has offered to donate a comfy dog bed and joint supplements if Monty is rescued.
Monty may have a few months or a few years left, but he absolutely deserves the chance to live them in comfort and love. He still has that spark and the will to live, and it is clear he is not ready for his story to be over.
Monty gets along well with other dogs and has a sweet, gentle demeanor. He would love nothing more than a soft bed and a caring person to show him what love really feels like.
