Want to See Trader Joe’s in Evansville? Ask For It!
Whenever my family and I head out of town for a weekend trip or a week-long vacation, we try and stop at a Trader Joe's if the city we're visiting happens to have one. I've always wondered why we don't have at least one somewhere in Evansville, maybe it's because we've never asked for one.
If you've never been to a Trader Joe's (the closest to Evansville are in Nashville, Tennessee and Louisville, Kentucky), it's not your typical grocery store. Let me rephrase that. It's a typical grocery store in the sense they have produce, meat, dairy, and frozen foods, however the brands of those items you likely won't find anywhere else in town. So if your family are big fans of Stouffer's Frozen Lasagna, don't plan on finding it at Trader Joe's.
The best words I can use to describe Trader Joe's products are probably "unique" and "eclectic." For example, if you're looking for Wild Rice & Mushroom Sausage-less Sausage, Trader Joe's is your place.
Have a craving for Strawberry Champagne Truffles? Trader Joe's is your place.
When we stop, it's usually to grab snacks or condiments we can't find here in Evansville. Case in point, we stopped at one of the Nashville locations during a day trip over Memorial Day weekend and grabbed a bottle of Sriracha Garlic Barbecue Sauce, Dark Chocolate Covered Peanuts, and Chili-Lime Cashews, along with some Gouda Cheese and a couple bags of gourmet potato chips, the flavors of which escape my mind right this minute.
Trader Joe's prides themselves on most of their products being organic, which can lead to prices being a little higher than what you're used to or may be willing spend. While I wouldn't see myself doing a bulk of my grocery shopping there, I could definitely see myself stopping by to grab a couple specialty items from time to time.
Back to the point of getting one here in Evansville. The Trader Joe's website actually features a page where you can request a location. I first found out about this from a post on our sister-station, 92.5 WBKR's website after a co-worker noticed several people in the Owensboro area were sharing the link on Facebook.
Obviously just because we request one, doesn't mean we're going to get it, but I would imagine that if enough people from the area made the suggestion, they'd at least look into the possibility. Surely they could make some space for one on Burkhardt Road in the future Promenade area where Zaxby's Chicken currently sits, or there's always room on the west side, or in North Park.
Visit the Trader Joe's website to put in your request! Let's make this happen!
