It's Almost Spooky Season in Southern Indiana

We are at that point in the summer where folks are enjoying their last few dips in the pool, but they're also ready for cool weather, pumpkin patches, hoodies, and Halloween! Last year, we found some really fun Halloween events around the Tri-State, and I've been keeping an eye out for hints about what's coming this year.

Last week, the Louisville Jack O'Lantern Spectacular announced it's moving to Kentucky Kingdom for a full festival experience. Now, a little closer to home, Vincennes Witches on Bikes has revealed its 2026 theme.

How Witches on Bikes Got Started

The idea came from Regina Blinn, who saw another community host a witches' ride. The first year was simply for fun. Thirty women rode through town, tossed candy, and returned to the park for snacks and games.

By the second year, it had become a fundraiser. As interest grew, donations were given to the Breast Care Center at Good Samaritan Hospital to help uninsured women cover the cost of mammograms. Participation doubled to about 60 riders.

Now in its sixth year, the event has raised $29,807 for the GSH Breast Care Center, VPRD, and 1st City Sunrise.

Why These Charities Were Chosen

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so the Breast Care Center was a natural choice. Many women skip important screenings because of the cost, and the event helps cover those expenses. The parks department was later added to encourage healthy activities for kids and families.

Harry Potter Theme Announced for Vincennes Witches on Bikes 2026

They've celebrated both Hocus Pocus and Wicked. So, this year needed to be a little different. They went with HARRY POTTER!

One Christmas break, my family decided to sit down and watch all the Harry Potter movies. We'd never seen them before, and we had such a good time. I loved the characters, the storylines, and, of course, the magic.

Now, there's a brand new Harry Potter series coming out on HBO Max this Christmas. It looks so good!

If you're a Harry Potter fan, you are invited to dress up as your favorite character from the series and ride through the streets of Vincennes.

Not a Harry Potter fan? No worries. You can still throw on your favorite witch or warlock costume, or even your favorite hoodie, hop on your bike, and join the fun.

Organizers haven't released many additional details yet, but they have announced the date. Mark your calendar for Saturday, October 24, 2026.

We'll share more information as it's announced. Until then, start planning your costume because this ride is always a spellbinding way to kick off Halloween season.

The event has grown each year, drawing participants from across the region for fun, costumes, and a good cause. Organizers haven't released many additional details yet, but they have announced the date. Mark your calendar for Saturday, October 24, 2026.
