Tropicana Evansville Announces Opening Date for Land-Based Casino [VIDEO]
Indiana's first land-based casino, located right on the Evansville riverfront, has an official opening date!
Thanks to legislation passed by the Indiana state government back in 2015, casinos previously based on water, like Tropicana in Evansville, are now allowed to operate on land.
At a press conference held Tuesday evening, Tropicana General Manager, John Chaszar announced the public will be able to enjoy all the amenities the casino will have to offer beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 20th.
The 75,000 square-foot facility will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and will feature over 1,100 slot machines, along with 41 table games (Blackjack, Craps, Roulette, etc.) and Poker.
Three new restaurants will also be a part of the experience including a 24-hour deli, simply called, "The Deli," a restaurant and bar called "Tap House" which will feature 36 different beers on tap along with a menu featuring everything "a savory meal, a great burger, or a quick snack," as well as "421," described as "a mix of sophisticated style and high-voltage energy with just the right amount of stimulation through state-of-the-art sound, light, and video technology."
The new facility will lead to the closure of Max & Erma's as well as Hoosier's Lounge in the current location.
As noted during the press conference, there will be a few days where there will be no gaming taking place as the current Casino (a.k.a. "The Boat") will cease operations on Monday, October 16th at 6:00 a.m.
