It's Fall y'all, and that means it's time to PURGE!

I promise you nothing feels better than having a clean, organized home. Ever since I was little, I've been a neat freak. From a really young age I'd fold my own clothes because my mom "didn't do it right". Still to this day I find joy in cleanliness and organization. A little bit of that might be my OCD, but for the most part I just consider cleaning one of my hobbies. Yes, seriously.

I also like when other people are clean and organized. Somehow it makes ME feel better when YOU have your life together. Is that weird? Probably. Do I care? Also probably.

So, with that being said, I've decided to share some of my tips and tricks for getting (and keeping) your closet nice and organized. This is typically a female issue - the shoes, the different wardrobe for every occasion, etc... - but men can also feel free to follow these suggestions.

> For starters...if you haven't worn it in a year, throw it out. Or donate it. Just get rid of it. If you didn't wear it the previous season, you probably won't wear it the next.

> Limit yourself (or try) to just a few pair of shoes per occasion. This is flexible depending on your job. For example, 3 pairs of tennis shoes, three pairs of sandals, three pair of heels. Obviously, if you're a boss b!tch business lady, you might need a bigger collection of heels and that's okay.

> Buy shoe organizers. These are life-savers and keep your closet looking polished and organized. I like to organize by style. For example, row one sneakers, two is flats, etc...

> Have a separate closet for bulky items. The coat closet in the hallway isn't just for cleaning supplies. Organize it and hang your heavier jackets and sweaters in it versus taking up precious space in your main closet.

> DONATE. Seriously, think of people with less than you and that is motivation enough to take a bag of clothes to the local shelter.

> Don't attach situations to clothes. How many times have you said, "I've never worn this, but maybe if there's ever a flapper-themed Halloween costume SOMETIME down the road, I could." I promise you can purchase another flapper-themed costume when that time comes (if it ever does). Just get rid of it.

> Organize by style, and then color.
My closet goes as follows:
Dresses (long sleeve to spaghetti straps)
Dress shirts (long sleeves)
Sweaters
Long sleeves
Short sleeves
(I keep my jeans folded in piles on my closet shelf)
Each of the above are also organized by colors within those groups.
