Hi.  I'm The Rob, and I played Pokemon for 65 hours last month.  I never considered myself a poke-maniac.  I had only a small amount of history with the historic franchise, mostly geared towards children and teens.  I played the first version of Pokemon when I was in high school (you'd be correct in your assumption that I did not get laid in high school), but hadn't played one in 15 years.  There has been dozens of Pokemon games released in my absence, so I decided to pick up the new one and give it a try...
