I feel like the writing has been on the wall for a while now, but like many of you, I didn't want to admit it would happen. The end of an era. World-famous Nashville picker paradise, Antique Archaeology, will close by the end of April.

The History Channel's American Pickers TV Show

One of my favorite shows used to be American Pickers on The History Channel. I'm sure you have heard of Mike, Frank (who left the show in 2020), and Danielle, who visit locations across the country searching for unique old memorabilia in barns, garages, etc. For me, the best episodes are when they uncover something amazing hidden behind stacked boxes or dusty curtains that the owner didn't even know was there.

The American Pickers Came to Windy Hollow Restaurant in 2016

Remember when they came to Daviess County to film the show at Windy Hollow? The legendary Hal Miller amassed an incredible collection of WW2 memorabilia, movie posters, and more over the years. Including some WBKR Country Music Jamboree signs! So cool!

Hal's daughter, Rooster, and granddaughter, Hallie, welcomed The Pickers to enjoy a delicious breakfast and "pick" the barn full of treasures. Our very own Dave Spencer got to chat with Rooster about the experience.

Antique Archaeology Closing Iconic Nashville Store

After announcing a hiatus to the American Pickers show, Mike has continued to make moves towards a new adventure. Acting!

In a letter to fans on Facebook, Mike writes:

"Well, Nashville… it’s time.

After nearly 15 amazing years, we’ve made the tough decision to close the doors of our Antique Archaeology store here in Music City. This place has meant the world to me — not just the brick and mortar, but the people. The community. The visitors from all over the world who came through those doors, shared their stories, and reminded me every day why I started this journey in the first place.

I’ve been so proud to be a part of this neighborhood, this city, and this chapter of life. But sometimes, even when something is good, you have to pause and ask yourself where your time is going — and where your heart is calling you next.

For me, that’s family. It’s slowing down a little, staying rooted, and focusing on the new projects that are pulling at my soul. I’m not disappearing — not even close. I’ll still be picking, sharing, and selling online and at our original LeClaire, Iowa store. But I’ve learned over the years that it’s easy to spread yourself too thin, and balance is something we all chase in one way or another.

This isn’t goodbye — it’s just a new rhythm. I’ll forever be grateful for every moment in that Nashville space, and for all of you who made it more than just a shop. You made it home.

The store will be closing April 27th and I’ll be there April 26th from 11-4 to see everyone.

With love and gratitude,
Mike"

When is Antique Archaeology Closing?

So, not too much notice to say goodbye, but it would be worth taking a little road trip for a piece of picker history. The closing date is April 27th, but Mike will be in-store from 11 AM to 4 PM the day before to thank everyone for years of support.
