The Angels for Ashley St. Jude Cookout Thursday and Friday

The WBKR St. Jude Radiothon is coming up Thursday and Friday and you know what that means??!! Jerry Morris and the Angels for Ashley Cooking Team will again be cooking for two consecutive days to help us raise money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis.  For the second consecutive year, we'll be set up at Shoe Stop's new location at Wesleyan Park Plaza in the heart of Owensboro and WBKR's Dave Spencer will be there broadcasting live throughout the entire event and giving updates on air during our St. Jude Radiothon.

Because of COVID-19, there will be some significant changes this year.  Obviously, we are committed to keeping you and our team protected.  Jerry's wife, Vickie, explained the changes on a social media post earlier this week.

As you can see, there is one major change to our cookout.  Due to COVID-19 safety concerns, we will NOT be serving plate lunches.  That's intended to eliminate foot traffic at the cookout and as much person-to-person contact as possible.  This is why we have committed to a convenient, drive-thru experience this year.

Of course, the one constant, the one thing you can ALWAYS count on with the Angels for Ashley Cooking Team is delicious food.  As we always say, "Jerry Morris has the best butt in town!"  LOL!

Here's a look at this year's prices (including Jerry's famous Boston butt).

BOSTON BUTTS will be $35.

  FULL RACKS OF RIBS will be $25.

WHOLE CHICKENS will be $10.

And, like they have over the past several years, our friends at Norman McDonald's in Philpot will be serving up BBQ for our friends on the east side of town! They'll be doing that on Thursday and will be offering the same drive-thru service.  WBKR's Barb Birgy will be in Philpot broadcasting live during the event.  On Friday, she'll move down Hwy 54 even more . . .  wot Whitesville. Drive-thru service will also be available at the Whitesville Mercantile Thursday and Friday.  As Vickie explains, "You will pull up tell them what you want and someone will take your money and someone will give you the meat."  It's as easy and delicious as that!

All proceeds from the Angels for Ashley Cookout will benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
