All you have to do is mention the word, "food," and I'm on board. When that food is Azzip Pizza, I will race you there.

A couple of co-workers and I stopped by the west side location for lunch one day last week, and while I chose to go with my normal pepperoni, onion, green pepper, mushroom, olive, and hot pepper blend with spicy red sauce, Ashley, our Digital Managing Editor, opted to go with their Pizza of the Month, the Figgy Piggy.

Typically when it comes to pizza, I stay pretty traditional (if my normal order above is any indication), however I was a intrigued by what was on the Figgy. Bacon, goat cheese, mozzarella cheese, balsamic glaze, and arugula with a layer of fig jam underneath.

20-year-old me would have shot this down in a heartbeat without even considering trying it. 41-year-old me on the other hand is slightly more open-minded (with food anyway), so when Ashley offered both me and Bobby (from our sister-station, My 105.3 WJLT) a slice, I decided to sink my teeth in.

The Figgy Piggy is available through the end of December at participating Azzip Pizza locations.
