If you are planning to take part in the Ski Day festivities this weekend, Indiana and Kentucky law enforcement agencies want you to know they are beefing up their patrol efforts along the Ohio River east of Evansville.

In an attempt to manage intoxicated boaters, fights and possible injuries, state and local police are working with emergency management officials and the Indiana Department of Natural Resources beginning Friday evening through late Sunday night.

Party goers should be aware of the increased possibility of sobriety checkpoints in the area, as well as saturation patrols, which give police the right to stop drivers for minimal cause and request they submit to a Breathalyzer test.

Ski Day on the Ohio’s “mega-party” is expected to attract more than 500 boats this year.
