Panther Creek Bridge on KY 81 Cannot Be Repaired

KY Highway 81 is a main artery for folks traveling between Calhoun/Madisonville and Owensboro everyday. So, despite detours that will be in place, this isn't the greatest news in the world.

The Panther Creek bridge on that stretch of blacktop was recently damaged again. But this time, the damage looks irreparable and the bridge may have seen its last vehicle.

That's the word from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, who posted this update Tuesday afternoon:

Until that temporary bridge can be constructed, be mindful of those detours. I know I've forgotten about bridge closures on 81 a time or two and I can't be the only one.
