Neighbors in Need: Relief For Hurricane Michael Mediathon Today
Multiple media outlets have put competition aside, and have joined forces to raise money for Hurricane Relief, with the American Red Cross.
Cleanup continues along Florida's Panhandle, after the destruction of Hurricane Michael. Rebuilding homes and businesses takes a lot of money. The American Red Cross provided more than 31,000 overnight stays to help people with nowhere else to go. More than 1,700 Red Cross disaster workers are working around the clock to support relief efforts across three states. Working with partners, the Red Cross has served more than 729,500 meals and snacks. They’ve also distributed more than 107,700 relief items like clean up kits, rakes, shovels, bleach, garbage bags and much more to help with the massive clean-up effort.
Locally, the American Red is hosting a Media-Thon today 6am - 7pm. Eyewitness News, 14 News and 44 News will simulcast a half hour of the telethon from 6:00PM to 6:30PM. Yes, 3 different TV stations, 2 radio groups: Townsquare Media and Midwest Communications and the Courier & Press will all be promoting and helping during 13 hour drive.
