I don't think it's an April Fool's joke either...

TMZ is reporting that Shain Gandee, easily the star of MTV's breakout show Buckwild has been found dead in his truck in Sissonville, West Virginia.  The 21-year-old was reported missing by his family early Easter morning after he left with his uncle, David Gandee at 3 AM to go 4-wheeling. Two other deceased were found in the vehicle with Gandee.  Few details are available as of now. See the TMZ post here.

It should also be noted that while I DO NOT think this is a joke, it is April Fool's Day.  TMZ last month also erroneously reported rapper Lil Wayne was being read his last rites.

UPDATE 4/1/13 12:30 PM: The Associated Press reported this morning that he had been missing and Access Hollywood just reported his death as well citing a local news station as the source.

UPDATE 4/1/13 12:33 PM: 1061 KISS-FM contacted a source that is close with the Buckwild cast. He is telling us that the cast is confirming Shain's death as well.

UPDATE 4/1/13 1:43 PM: CNN is also reporting on Shain's death. "This is a very sad and tragic event," Kanawha County Commissioner Kent Carper said. "We live in a very small community. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Gandee family. The full details will be released later by the Kanawha County Sheriff Department."

UPDATE 4/2/13 9:11 AM: To update the story, Shain Gandee was reportedly found dead in his truck with his uncle David, who would sometimes be featured on the MTV reality show, as well as another unnamed young man unrelated to the series.

The truck’s exhaust was completely submerged in a pit of mud during a “mudding” event.  The cause of death is believed to be carbon monoxide poisoning that leaked through to the coach of the vehicle.

Filming for the second season of the highly popular “Buckwild” has been suspended indefinitely.  No decision has been made regarding the future of the show.

Update 4/4/13: The 911 audio from the person that found Shain’s body has been released.  It gets more emotional the longer you stay with it, so listen with discretion:

The Gandee family has had an outpouring of support, noting they’re not as wealthy as people think.  Speculation has indicated that all stars of the first season of Buckwild made a little over $1,000 per episode.  MTV and the production companies behind the show have offered to take care of Shain’s funeral expenses in full.
