JAY-Z Dedicates ‘Story of O.J.’ to Colin Kaepernick and Dick Gregory at 2017 Meadows Festival

JAY-Z had another fantastic concert performance -- this time in Queens, New York at the 2017 Meadows Music and Arts Festival on Friday night (Sept. 15). According to New York Daily News, Hov delivered a triumphant set where he blended his classic hits with songs from his stellar album, 4:44.

This was the Roc Nation mogul’s first concert in NYC since 2014. JAY launched his set with “Run This Town” and blended it with “Watch the Throne” “No Church In the Wild.” He later combined “I Just Wanna Love U (Give it 2 Me),” “Big Pimpin” and “99 Problems” together that had the crowd cheering and rapping every word of the songs.

One standout moment of the night was when JAY-Z, performed the polarizing 4:44 track “Story of OJ.” He dedicated the song to Colin Kaepernick and Dick Gregory, two activists who have made it their life's work to shine a spotlight on some of the social issues facing black America.

“I want to dedicate this song to Colin Kaepernick tonight,” Hov said before performing the song. “I want to dedicate this [song] to Dick Gregory. I want to dedicate this song to anyone that was held back and you overcame."

Later, JAY brought out Bob Marley’s son Damian for a rousing performance of "Bam." The rap veteran ended his show with a rendition of "Encore/Numb" his collaborative song with Linkin Park, and he dedicated to the band’s singer, Chester Bennington, who committed suicide last month.
