If you have spent any amount of time in Evansville bars over the past 10+ years, you have probably seen Jessica Overstreet - either behind the bar or up on stage. Jess has been slanging drinks around Evansville for over 15 years and has also fronted a couple of popular cover bands.

Jessica is currently in the band Dreamstreet, which opened for Hairball at the Victory Theatre back in February. They are a group of really talented musicians who put on a great show. I was lucky enough to get on stage and introduce Dreamstreet to the crowd that night, and I can tell you firsthand that if you get the chance to see them play, you will NOT be disappointed.

After running into Jessica again after God knows how many years and being so impressed by her frontwoman skills, I just knew I wanted her to be the next person in my "10 Questions With..." series.

So let's see what Jessica has to say about these 10 hard-hitting (Ha!) questions...

1. What’s your favorite childhood memory?

I don’t want to come across as a cop-out, but the truth is that I’m not very good at picking favorite anythings. I am paralyzingly indecisive by nature. That said, due to the efforts of my AMAZINGLY well-rounded, outgoing, renaissance woman of a mother, positive childhood experiences for me were too numerous to count. Even though we never had much money, she did everything in her power to get me engaged in any & all: sports, forms of art, and outdoor experiences that I could dream up and even many that I couldn’t. (Thanks momma!)

2. What’s your favorite hobby or way to spend free time?

I love getting in my mother/daughter quality time by horsing around with her - like literally. We’ve had horses all our lives, and it is such a gift in so many ways that I can’t even begin to list them. (Love you, momma!)

3. If you could learn any new skill instantly, what would it be?

I have always wanted to be multilingual. Alas, I know but one, and it’s iffy at best.

4. What’s your go-to comfort food or snack?

Cheese. Always cheese.

5. If you could have dinner with any person, living or dead, who would it be?

I wish I could tell you it would be some strong female activist, scientist, or philosopher, but nay...if I could have dinner with anyone, it would probably be Andy Cohen! I have been an out and proud Bravo JUNKY since its inception. I can’t even call it a guilty pleasure - I have no shame in it.

6. What’s a fun fact about you that most people don’t know?

How old I am! I’m not gonna tell on myself, but in person, people are regularly surprised to find out that I’m much older than they guess me to be. (Shout out to my hair colorist.)

7. Would you rather time-travel to the past to meet your ancestors or to the future to meet your descendants?

Well, I am decidedly and proudly childless! So, the genetics stop here. However, being that my father was adopted, I have always had some curiosity about my ancestry.

8. Would you rather have an invisibility cloak or a teleportation device?

HA! I’m the frontman of a BAND, man! Hiding’s not really my thing. Plus, if you’re doing something that you don’t want to be seen, you’re probably up to no good. Either that or you’re gonna mess around and get your feelings hurt by hearing some stuff that wasn’t meant for your ears. But to teleport anywhere?! Think of the possibilities! Think of the TIME you would save!! Although I suppose it would in some ways rob you of the whole “it’s not the destination, it’s the journey” experience. *shrug*

9. What’s a conspiracy theory you think might actually be true?

Ugh! Sadly, that oligarchs truly do rule the world.

10. What’s the meaning of life?

Easy. To give & receive love and to simply bear witness to each other in this life. That’s it.
