Considering the trauma we felt from Mother Nature and Winter Storm Blair, you may not want to hear anything more about snow, so I apologize in advance if this article is triggering.

There are a lot of people still digging themselves out following the heavy amounts of snow we received in January. You might be thinking "I can't imagine anyone got more snow than us," or perhaps you're thinking "I'm sure there are others who had it worse than us." Well, in honor of World Snow Day on January 19th, LawnLove.com compiled a list of the counties that receive the most snow during the winter months...

We compared 258 counties based on 3 categories. More specifically, we looked at historical snowfall records — including annual snowfall, 1-day, and 3-day records. We also considered temperature and demand for snow removal services, among 7 total metrics.

Which Indiana Counties Get the Most Snow?

There are four Hoosier counties on the list, starting about as far north as you can go, all the way down to the very southern tip of the state. The Indiana county that gets the most snow, and is ranked #54 on this list, is St. Joseph County (South Bend and Mishawaka). Here's where the other counties ranked.

  • #131 - Allen County (Fort Wayne and New Haven)
  • #146 - Marion County (Indianapolis)
  • #161 - Vanderburgh County (Evansville)

Which U.S. Counties Get the Most and Least Snow?

You probably wouldn't be surprised to learn that four of the top five counties on this list are in Alaska, but NOT the #1 spot. The county that gets the most snow (and it really isn't even close) is Coos County, New Hampshire. And it should come as no surprise that to visit the 258th-ranked county, you'd have to take a long flight - all the way to Honolulu County in Hawaii.
