This Tennessee Resort Is About to Flip the Switch on 5 Million Christmas Lights
Okay, I know we haven't even made it to Halloween yet, but we know that Christmas waits for no one. We blink and it's here.
Especially at Gaylord Opryland in Nashville.
If you've ever been there around Christmas, you already know they don't just put up a tree in the lobby, add a couple strands of lights and call it good. They go ALL OUT, and they're getting ready to do it again this year.

Five Million Christmas Lights... Seriously
Gaylord Opryland's A Country Christmas officially begins November 6 and runs through January 2, 2027.
And when I say this place is decorated, I mean it. If you aren't in the Christmas spirit they make sure their décor and vibe gets you there.
We're talking more than five million Christmas lights, 15 miles of garland, 10 miles of hand-tied ribbon, thousands of poinsettias and plenty of Christmas trees, including a massive 48-foot centerpiece tree.

The decorations cover about nine acres of the resort, including those huge indoor atriums Gaylord Opryland is known for.
You can walk around inside surrounded by Christmas lights, decorations and gardens without having to freeze outside. That sounds like my kind of Christmas sightseeing. If we're going to deck the halls might as well do it right.

This Year's ICE! Theme Is a Good One
Of course, the decorations aren't the only reason people head to Gaylord Opryland around Christmas.
ICE! is coming back, and this year's theme is Home Alone.
More than **two million pounds of ice** will be carved into scenes from the movie, including Kevin McCallister, the Wet Bandits and the McCallister house.
And this part is pretty wild: the artists travel more than **6,000 miles from Harbin, China**, to Nashville to create the attraction. They'll use thousands of blocks of ice to build the massive walk-through display.

Basically, Christmas Takes Over the Entire Place
There's a lot more happening besides ICE! and the lights, too.
Gaylord Opryland will have ice skating, ice tubing, bumper cars, gingerbread decorating, visits with Santa and carriage rides. You can even take a Christmas-themed Delta Riverboat ride through the resort.
There will also be a free light and fountain show inside the Delta Atrium and a nightly outdoor Christmas tree lighting.

When Can You Go?
If you're thinking this might be worth a little road trip to Nashville, A Country Christmas runs November 6, 2026, through January 2, 2027.
Honestly, I feel like this is one of those places where you don't even need a big plan. Just walking around and seeing everything would be worth the trip.
Five million lights, a 48-foot Christmas tree and nine acres of decorations?
Gaylord Opryland definitely doesn't slowly ease into the Christmas season. They basically flip a switch and say, "okay, it's Christmas now."
And if they flip the switch, who am I to turn it off?
